I compose and produce music for movies, tv shows, commercials and documentaries. I write and produce songs with my band Olio along with other talented songwriters and artists. I am also a voice actor narrating commercials, eLearning, sleep stories, scary stories and app walk-throughs. I love my job! I also enjoy hiking with my family, surfing and watching movies.
BIOGRAPHY
Born in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Arif Hodzic knew from an early age that music would be his lifelong passion. At just three years old, he marched around the dining room table conducting Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture before heading outside to play. He began classical piano lessons at age seven under the guidance of Norma Ramberg in Northern Virginia, performing in recitals and festivals for six years. At 11, he was selected for the Fairfax County Chorus and sang on his first professional album recording.
At 14, Arif picked up the electric guitar and never looked back. He quickly immersed himself in songwriting and performing, forming a band that played backyard parties and showcases. His passion for music led him to California, where he studied at the Musicians Institute in Hollywood at 17. Soon after, he joined a rock band that caught the attention of Capitol Records, but despite early momentum, the band dissolved, redirecting his path. At 23, he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Radio/TV/Film from California State University, Long Beach, while also minoring in music to deepen his knowledge of composition.
Today, Arif composes music for film and television and serves as the lead singer and guitarist for the band Olio. Since 1999, Olio has released six albums under AD4 Records, the independent label he co-founded with bandmates Kelley Hill and Barry Chenault. His musical journey includes composing promo music for HBO’s True Blood, writing and producing the theme song for America’s Got Talent juggling sensations The Passing Zone, and scoring films such as Searching for a Storm, Port Town, Life Is Short, and Mind Traveler.
His compositions extend to commercials (AAA, Bank of Hawaii, Geico, Seabourn, State Farm), television (The Bachelorette, Prime Suspect, The Tyra Banks Show), and branded content (Primo, TrueCar, FlexPod, Six Senses, Napoleon@LArge).
Additionally, he scored music for Matthew Modine’s film One Last Score. As a guitarist, his work can be heard on albums by Velvet Chain, Jason Roe, Lane Lenhart, violinist David Wilson, and the FBC Mass Choir. He also appeared as the guitarist in Enrique Iglesias’ Enamorado Por Primera Vez music video.
From 2000 to 2015, Arif played guitar for Friendship Baptist Church (FBC) in Yorba Linda, California, contributing to two gospel albums that received significant radio airplay and industry recognition. In 2006, he co-wrote and produced the single We Thank God for You, honoring the men and women of the armed forces, featuring Sonya Griffin, Kersaundra Hall, and the FBC Mass Choir.
As a versatile musician, Arif collaborates with various artists and songwriters, believing that the song itself dictates its musical direction. His approach is simple: listen, stay out of the way, and let the music speak. Skilled in an array of styles—including classical, electronic, acoustic, rock, gospel, funk, R&B, pop, country, and jazz—he brings a rhythmic and dynamic sensibility to every project. His philosophy remains: Less is more.

With years of experience capturing the nuances of his voice and conveying a wide range of emotions, Arif found a seamless transition into voice-over work. He is a leading voice in the horror, sci-fi, true crime, UFO, and sleep story genres, captivating audiences with his immersive narration. As the voice of Dr. NoSleep—the #1 horror podcast with over 3 million monthly listeners—he delivers chilling performances that keep fans hooked. I also have access to professional vocalists and instrumentalists that can add real value to the recordings depending on the budget.
